CKB will bear the costs of the bank fee for the transfer of funds to other banks for the purpose of paying child allowance to users who are their customers.
This was agreed upon through CKB's membership in UNICEF Business Council on Child Rights and is a continuation of the long-standing practice of the country's largest bank to contribute to improving the position of children and youth in the Montenegrin society.
"The leadership status that CKB enjoys on the market for years stems not only from the achieved business results, but also from the need to continuously contribute to the progress of the society. I see membership in UNICEF Business Council on Child Rights as an opportunity to enable, together with our partners with whom we share the same values, conditions for happier growing up of our children. Guided by this noble goal, we decided to bear the costs of the bank fee for the transfer of funds to other banks for the purpose of paying child allowance to users who are their customers. I believe that this decision is just the beginning of activities that we will implement with UNICEF and relevant institutions, further confirming the commitment that children and youth are one of the foundations of our socially responsible business and activities", said Branislava Maja Vukčević, Executive Director of Corporate Governance Division of CKB.
Huan Santander, UNICEF Montenegro Representative, called on other banks to follow CKB's example: “We thank CKB for its pioneering role in UNICEF's Business Council on Child Rights and for making the first donation directly for the benefit of all children in Montenegro. CKB will cover all costs of banking transactions related to the payment of child allowance for all its clients who have children up to 6 years of age. We hereby call on other banks in Montenegro to follow the example of CKB and not to charge the costs of banking transactions for the payment of child allowance. "
Marija Stajović, acting director of Directorate for Social and Child Protection emphasized that CKB, by this donation through UNICEF Business Council on Child Rights, demonstrated social responsibility. She also expressed her belief that this support will motivate other partners to contribute as well.
36,121 children are registered for October allowance which is paid in mid-November, and the submission of applications for the following months has continued. The Government of Montenegro allocates EUR 17.6 million per year for child allowance for all children under 6 years of age.
